Did the 6 km walk through King's Canyon (Watarrka). Have suggested to the Parks people that defibrulator paddles be available at the top of the initial climb. Really nice walk around the rim of the canyon. Interesting geological formation 'terranius bastardum' meaning 'uphill all the way'. Wouldn't have missed it, though. At one point we had a French couple behind us in a place when descent was very steep. Pam advised them to use their 'derrieres'. Everyone got a laugh. Am considering making ads for Diclofenac (wonderful anti-inflammatory). Codger knees got rubbery on the climb, but otherwise holding up well.
We were going to spend the night but decided to get a jump on the trip to Alice Springs. Stopped at Mt. Ebeneezer Roadhouse. Unpowered site free. Powered $10.00. Really nice steak dinner for $25. This Roadhouse has the horror movie vibe, very remote, nothing at all to be seen till the horizon, but really, the people were friendly, facilities ok, but hey, we're in the outback.
Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteProbably not a good time to watch "Wolf Creek"
