Woke at 5:00 to the song of the Mataranka Garp Bird. Should be written 'GRRAAAAARRRRPPPPP' Sounds like a cockatoo with a bad amphetemin habit.Nice 8 km. walk to Mataranka Falls, followed by a dip in the hot springs. The walk was easy enough, with several creeks running into the Roper river. Signs warning about not annoying fresh water crocodiles, though these usually no danger. Salt-water crocs are trapped by rangers, prevented by barriers from entering the national park, usually. We wondered about the really clever saltie that could get in...
Thinking of putting the house on the market and just staying here. There doesn't appear to be a big call for software developers locally though. Peacocks walk around, hoping for a dry biscuit. Many small and cute wallabies hop about. A bloke down the way has a fire at night: one of the tame wallabies stretches out in front of the fire!
After lunch, had long chats with Pat and Val, followed by dip in springs. Brain now going very slowly.
You know you are making a lot of people jealous.

Looks a lot better than Melbourne. Cold, hi of 15, and rainy here.
