Had a fabulous day travelling up and down three gorges on the Katherine River. The boat holds about 50 people, has a flat bottom and can travel through very shallow water when required. Boat driver/ guide made good joke about finding nearest emergency exit (eg jump sideways off the boat to miss the propeller) and the crocodile shaped rock formation called 'Justin'... Justin case you don't see any crocodiles on the trip.
The trip took about 3.5 hours and we had opportunities to get off, walk around and generally enjoy the place. Absolutely not to be missed if you're ever in the area. Pam is seen with small grandchild-size friend, no pressure, Geoff and Kevin!!
While engaged in the daily trip to Woollies for supplies (keeping on high alert in the meat department), I ran into Pam's principal from Maffra, Glynn Milner. Apparently, Katherine is a sort of 'elephant's graveyard' for clapped out (I mean retired) school principals. We expect to see Brian Burgess any day now.
Finished the afternoon jaunt with a few coldies at Doyley's. The one-eyed bouncer (sorry, I mean partially vision impaired security person) must have seen yesterday's entry. Just after 5:00 (I guess his end of day shift) he drove his 850 cc Norton out through the beer garden. Kept it locked in the back for safe keeping; not a bad idea.
Saw two chaps who, if they weren't ringers, certainly looked the part. From the rate they swallowed Four Xs, it had been a while between drinks. They looked to be ready for an extended session. A braver man than I would love to be around at closing time to watch the excitement.
Returned to the caravan for a nice omelette (if I say so myself) and a chat with neighbours. During the night we enjoyed the gentle song of an insomniac rooster living somewhere near the caravan park and in the early morning we were entertained by activities of the fellow camper who decided that his clothes needed drying at about 6:00.
We've decided to stay another day.

Every day is an adventure! Love the grandchild.
