While Pam was busy, I slipped down the road to the Aviation Museum. Among other exhibits they have a complete, intact actual B52. The informative film explains that it was nicknamed 'BUFF' for 'Big Ugly Fat Fellow' (or something similar.)
Coincidently 'buff' is also the nickname for the local buffalo. The headline on yesterday's Northern Territory News reads "Cucumber truck hits buff near jumping crocs.' A truckload of cucumbers went off the road near the Adelaide River Jumping Crocodiles tour site after hitting a buffalo. Authorities suggest care when dealing with buffalos and crocodiles. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm thinking of subscribing to the NT News. The front page on the paper the other day showed pictures of each member of the Darwin City Council wearing clown noses. The report related how the Council had let the Moscow Circus use the showgrounds for nothing in exchange for free tickets. Public sentiment was runnning against the Council 48,000 to 0, 48,000 being Darwin's population.
Yesterday's NT News had a nice note about Scott Leckey who's in town for the cup. I've kept it for Tommy in case he didn't see it.
We met a nice couple from Orbost and some Kiwi train drivers who trained in Wisconsin. Orbostians knew Geoff Truan, who used to drink at the Rossmore in Yallourn North.

Caution in cucumber handling also is called for, I think. Little known U.S. fact: there are no, never were any buffalo in Buffalo, NY. It was named Beau Fleuve, beautiful river, which garbled into Buffalo.
