Day 37, 7 August 2009, Kununurra

Started the day by checking our email and other adminstrivia.

Pam found one email telling her that her application and interview (over the phone while we were in Darwin) were successful and she was now Traralgon Secondary College's E-Learning Coach. (I'm going to get her a cap and a whistle.)
Spent the morning doing some repairs on the caravan. The little drain valve on the water tank must've taken a hit by a rock and split, draining out the water. Could've been a nasty surprise if we got stuck somewhere. Also the little collar on the drive screw on one of the caravan legs broke. I found the parts I needed and a machine shop where I asked if I could get the collar drilled out. The owner told me it would be too expensive but he had a caravan leg that'd been on the shelf for years and I COULD HAVE IT FOR NOTHING. I don't imagine I'd hear those words at Ian Grant's.

We got everything fixed and headed off to meet Dan and some of his friends. We met Dan and about half-a-dozen of his friends at the edge the Lily Creek Lagoon. Dan was waiting for his friend Tracey, so we we loaded into Kim's and Beck's boat and we took off for the middle of the lagoon. Altogether, there were about 8 small boats anchored together to watch the sunset. Pam and I were made to feel completely welcome, despite the fact that we're about double the average age of the others. We had snacks, drinks, nice conversations and a spectacular sunset. As if that wasn't enough, we then proceeded to a secluded spot on shore for a bush barbecue. More drinks, more conversation and a few snags.

There was absolutely no room for improvement.

  2. Congratulations Pam! (You know we saw "interview" and thought it was in Darwin and that would have been a huge change; but in place is lovely, so many good wishes. / Thank goodness you discovered the water problem and good on the repair guy for the good will. / Ditto on Robyn again.
