Another day travelling south, this time to Kalbarri. Just as we were lining up for petrol at Denham, we ran into Glyn and Karen Milner, with their (much taller than last time) son, Joel. Unbeknownst to us, the Milners, who Pam worked with at Maffra Secondary College, have been on the same trail. It was great to have a fast gossip and travel-share, and we are hoping to catch up in Perth.
The caravan park's one of three in the town and walking distance from everything. Set up camp, drove around and did the usual first-day-in-a-new-place things.
Met a gentleman nicknamed 'Suma' who's turning 88 on Friday. He's a retired pump techo, who used to drive around WA and the NT fixing pumps. Spent some time in New Guinea in the 1940s, like my father-in-law, Keith.
He told me the only places in WA he's never been didn't have pumps.
I hope I'm having a quiet beer in a pub the week before my 88th birthday.
My shout.
