Called Pam's father's friend, Jack Simpson who lives in Kalbarri and met at their place for morning tea.
Both he and his wife Joyce were incredibly welcoming and insisted that we be their guests for dinner that night. Pam's father (who calls me his 'foreign' son-in-law), rang Jack, warning him not to offer me a beer before 5:00 PM) Thanks, Keith. Jack told us that one of his life's achievements was playing 94 games short of a hundred for Essendon.
Jack and Joyce strongly recommended we visit a parrot-breeding sanctuary called "Rainbow jungle". We always do what we're told by Keith's mates, so off we went. We spent over an hour, in the most amazing place, mesmerised by beautiful birds, most in aviaries, some in a free range environment. Waterfalls, pools and lush plants made this a wonderful experience, one we would never have selected ourselves. The intelligence and humour in the eyes of the macaws held us transfixed, as one slowly, gracefully, and ultimately successfully, pushed his companion off the perch, so that he was the one closest to us.
During the day we visited a number of spots along the coast like Red Bluff, The Mushroom and others. Walked around, watched more whales and enjoyed the day.
Finished with a great meal of snapper, chips and salad.
No room for improvement.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, all...
