From 27 km. out of Balladonia Roadhouse to Caiguna there's a stretch 153 km. without a bend. It rises and falls a few times, maybe a meter or two up and down. The countryside varies much more than we expected, going from lightly treed to scrub in various places.
We stopped for fuel (and a souvenir stubby holder) at the Cocklebiddy Roadhouse. Fuel was $1.74 per litre, but still under the $1.81 at Mount Ebeneezer. As it's 438 km. from Norseman and 771 km to Ceduna, I accept that their transport costs justify the price.
Here's a hint for travellers. If you park your caravan near permanent residents in a caravan park and the permanent residents have chooks, move to the other side of the caravan park. The rooster started in at 3:30 am, possibly confused by the frequent 45 minutes time zone changes on the Nullarbor. The poor thing must have been tired during the day, having crowed most of the night. I wonder if he gets any shift allowance for working nights.
Decided to have dinner in the restaurant, as we hadn't gotten anything for tea and the nearest Woolies was 710 km. in one direction and 559 in the other. I met a nice farming couple from Penola, SA (he was an ex-computer nerd) in the bar and we joined them for a pleasant dinner.
Chooks!
