Day 80, 19 September 2009, Port Augusta to Mildura

I identified a shortcut from Port Augusta to Mildura. Instead of taking the Stuart/ Barrier Highway to Gawler, then the Sturt Highway to Mildura, we could save 60 km. or so by following the Claire Highway through Galstone, Saddleworth and Kapunda.


This turned out not be a time saver, but it was a pleasant though slow and windy drive through lush farming country. Lots of wheat, cannola and grapes. No shortage of rain around here.


Crossed the Murray at Renmark, then the Victorian border 18 km. later, finally arriving at Mildura 50 km. and half a time zone later.
